How long have you been in business?

strong_business

Part of owning a business means that you will have to be prepared for crises. Sometime within the life of a business, there is bound to be at least one crisis for which you will have to be prepared. Whether it be an elemental crisis, like an earthquake or a fire that does serious damage to your business, or it be something internal, something is bound to happen.

Can you think of a crisis or two that could affect your business? Maybe you have a key employee who might quit or are injured. Maybe your business is located in a small town and could be seriously impacted if the town's economy were to go down. It could be that you could have a key supplier close. There are many, many different crises that could be detrimental to business.

There are two different ways you can handle a crisis when it comes along. You can fold under the pressure of the problem, and your business could be seriously injured or destroyed completely. Alternatively, you can march through the crises and come out the other side stronger and more successful.

Is it possible to survive such a problem and be better for it? Yes, it is very possible. All you have to do is take some very simple steps.

Step one: plan ahead. You will need to have backup plans before a crisis ever even happens. Of course, you cannot know exactly what may happen in your business' future, but you can plan for problems in general. Go ahead and put policies and procedures into place now so that you will have something to fall back on in the future.

Step two: educate your employees. You can handle issues with losing key employees by cross training them so that you always have other people that can do any job. In addition, make sure that your employees understand the company's policies on any crisis that may come up.

Step three: If you expect it, you can deal with it. You do not want to run your business with a constant sense of dread, but at the same time, you do not want to be surprised and left in shock if something were to happen. Always make sure to run your business with a positive mindset, but at the same time, expect that bad things may happen.

Your business can come through a crisis and be better in the end. It just takes a little work on your part.

leadgeneration

Your first question may be wondering what a lead generation system actually is. If you have never worked with such a system, you may have no idea what the term means. What you will need to realize is there is quite a value in a lead generation system, and these systems are an excellent way to find new customers quickly and easily.

First, you must understand what the system is. If you are a kind of company that can work by contacting interested people who may like to become your customer, then the system could be right for you. When you receive information that a person is interested in being contacted by your company, then you have received a lead. A lead generation system works by compiling these possible leads and handing them to your company in an easy to follow list.

As you can see, there can be great potential in using a lead generation company, but you must also make sure that you understand that there are different types of these companies. Bad lead systems may provide fake leads or leads to uninterested people. You could quickly garner a bad reputation if your business continually contacts people unsolicited.

It is very important to choose a good system, and there are certain traits that you can look for. If you carefully choose whom you work with, then you will be able to form a partnership with a lead generation system that is destined to be profitable.

First, you want to make sure that the lead generation system you choose will provide you with genuine leads to people who are truly interested. Generally, a good lead company will indicate that they use specially filtered forms to find people who express interest. These leads will give you a true chance of finding new customers.

Next, you will want to find a lead generation system that will give you delivery options. Some systems will even provide the leads to you in a real time feed. You should also be able to choose from email, text, telephone call, or fax. Good systems will give you all of the options you will need.

Finally, as with anything else, you will want to choose a lead generation company that provides excellent customer service. Since you will be dealing with these people often, make sure you are happy with the experience you have with them. Their customer service department should be available to you when you need them.

I’m originally from Germany, but I’ve been living in the United States since the mid-’90s when I came here in pursuit of a spiritual calling.

The first inkling I had of my life’s vision was around the age of six. I grew up in a small village in the Black Forest where life was rural, simple, and backwards. Therefore, I always looked forward to seeing Hollywood movies on TV, and I especially loved all the singing and dancing of the musicals. I was thoroughly convinced that this is how life should be.

It was then that I decided to become a famous actress or an artist—someone who goes out into the world and actually livesthe sort of life that others just watch on screen. My parents gave me permission to take over the entire attic, where I literally furnished an imaginary world that I would slip into on a daily basis after school and homework were done. We had lots of vintage clothes from at least three generations and various eras, which gave me plenty of ways to act out my fantasy plays. My envisioned world became so real that when I think back to my childhood today, I have vivid memories—if not sometimes even heightened memories—of my enacted daydreams, which are sometimes even brighter than factual reality. It was that little girl who, at an early age, had made up her mind and began living her dream in an attic full of possibilities.

Customers come and go. This is just one of the ups and downs of owning a business. You are aware that you may not always keep the same customers for years. However, as a small business, you will usually have a strong base of loyal customers who continue to visit your business for years. These people are often called lifetime customers, and they are extremely vital to the health of a business.

Why are lifetime customers so important when my actual customer base changes year to year? The reason that these loyal customers are so important is actually twofold. First of all, think about the time when your liquid customer base has been at its lowest point. What supported your business during those times? Yes, it was your lifetime customers.

The great thing about loyal customers is that they will stick with you.

The second part of this answer has to do with reputation. One thing about people is that they will tell other people about their experiences. Your loyal customers are most likely very happy to tell other people about what a good experience they had with your business. This can lead to many new customers for you.

How can I sustain a good base of lifetime customers? The answer is very simple. Provide them with an experience that makes them want to continually come back to your business. Your customers should be able to walk away from your business each and every time, happy with their experience.
You can achieve such an experience for your customers by making sure that your employees treat everyone who walks through the door with respect and with a professional attitude. In addition, your employees should be thoroughly knowledgeable of any product or service you sell.

Is there anything extra I can do to keep customers? Loyalty programs can be a great way to give a little extra to your lifetime customers. You can provide them with a discount after a certain number of years as your customer. You could provide special promotions if the customer refers knew customer to you. There are any number of things you can do to let your lifetime customers know that you appreciate them.

There is a major lifetime value to your customers. While you have to expect some customers to come and go, you can still make sure to take care of your lifetime customers by providing them with excellent service and an amount of appreciation.

Love elevates you. It makes you lighter.

When you accept the abundance of that love, you receive:

• Joy

• Lightness

• Peace

• Understanding

• Knowing

• A positive guiding presence

When I was told to bring joy to people’s souls, it meant bringing them love—real love. A very powerful example of real love can be found in my sister’s story. My sister and her husband lost their first child exactly six months to the day after his birth. The death of a child is not a loss that anyone is going to be able to move on from easily, but they found their way together. Their philosophy is that if God had come to them before the arrival of their baby and asked them to accept the gift of their child, to take care of him, love him unconditionally, and then give him back to Him after six months, they would have wholeheartedly accepted the gift. That’s love.

Consider the following scenario. You started a business. It is a small business, but it is selling the products that you love. Maybe it is even a specialty business, and you have had a great deal of success from your surrounding area. You are not very good with numbers, so you have made the decision to leave all of the money issues up to your accountant.

Maybe you even hired an accountant first thing, and you have never looked back. This way, you can concentrate on your actual business and not all of those pesky numbers. It seems like the perfect plan, does it not? As long as things run smoothly, you may feel like you made a good choice. However, once something goes wrong, you will quickly realize that you made a very big mistake.

Suddenly, you are wishing that you had paid better attention to the money side of your business. Maybe you would have been able to see the problem coming, or you could at least be better prepared for the situation.

Maybe this is a scenario that you will never face, but if you do not ever do anything with your companies figures and numbers, then you could be setting yourself up for a problem. However, even if you have not been taking the time you need with the financial side of your company, you can start now.

The first thing you should do is set up weekly meetings with your accountant. During these meetings, take the time to look at your company's numbers and ask questions. If you do not understand what you are looking at, always ask the accountant to explain. Before long, you will have a much better understanding of your company's finances.

Second, you will need to begin formulating pans. What will you do if your company does not reach their cash flow goals for a week or a month? What will you do if your business sustains way over the goal?

Once you better understand your company's finances, you will be able to do much more with your business. You will be able to handle problem times with ease, and you will be able to make the most of the best times.

Finally, you will want to continue to be aware of the numbers of your business. Keep in mind that your accountant may make a mistake just as anyone will. Therefore, understanding your finances will help you better keep an eye out for any human error.

Branding

You own a business and someone mentions that you need to be branded. Instantly, thousands of questions begin to run through your mind. Whether or not you have even heard of branding, the thought of it is destined to drum up quite a few questions. When you run a small business, the questions become even more prominent. Here, you can find the answers to many of your branding questions.

What is branding? This has to do with the image and the scope of your business. The brand that your business presents will be a combination of everything that goes into your business, including: products offered, services offered, quality of products and services, customer service, business style, logos, colors, and cost. All of these things and everything in between goes into the brand of your business.

Do I need to brand my business? In a word, yes. However, what you must realize is that your business has already been branded. If your company has been around even for a short amount of time, your customers already have an opinion about it. In a sense, your business gained a brand all on its own. The only problem is, if you allowed your business to brand itself, then it may not be the brand you want.

How do I change the brand of my business? Once your company already has a reputation, it will take a little work to change. You will have to put some effort into the process and you will have to be committed to creating the image that you want.

Start by reviewing all aspects of your business. Make sure that your employees are well trained and professional. Make sure that you are happy with the products and services that you offer. Make sure that the physical location of your business presents a professional and correct image.

If there is any part of your business that does not it into the image and vision that you want, you will have to take steps to change it.

How do I maintain the branding of my business? You can do this by continually keeping your employees well educated. You can also continually evaluate the products and services you offer, changing them to meet the evolving needs of your customers.

Branding your business is important, no matter the size of your company. It is never too late to take steps to brand your business correctly. You will just need to make sure you are committed to the process.

Challenging circumstances can make you uncomfortable, but when you focus your energy into the things that keep you closer to your love, the things that don’t support that love will disappear from your life. The loss of certain things or certain people may cause you to shed a tear, but it can be helpful to think of it as shedding your skin:

What you lose is only lost to make way for something better.

marketing_and_salesIt is true that you can have sales at your business without ever spending a dollar on marketing. It is true that customers may find you even if you never advertise. However, it is not true that your company can be successful or profitable working in this way. While you may not feel that you have the available funds to market your business, you must find ways to make those funds available.

Instead of thinking of your business as the owner, try looking at it from a customer's perspective. You can do this by thinking of situations where you have been the customer. For example, what if you needed to hire an electrician for your home. Most likely, you will begin looking for a professional by consulting the internet, the telephone book, or local advertising.

In the process of looking, your eyes are going to be drawn first to the actual advertisements. If an electrician took the time to place even a small advertisement for their company in the yellow pages of the phone book, you are sure to notice them first. If a professional took the time to advertise in local venues, you will most likely remember their name when you need them.

As a customer, how many times have you discovered an individual phone number among the regular listings of a phone book? The electrician who did not market will be hard to find, and most likely, you will go with one that advertised since you will feel they present a more professional image.

Now that you have thought of marketing from the customer's perspective, step back into your own shoes and think about your business. How many customers are you missing simply because your phone number and business name is lost among listings? How many customers are choosing other companies because they felt the company must be more professional since they took the time to advertise?

As you can see, your sales are directly affected by the amount of marketing you do. Whether you choose to market via phone book or newspaper advertisements, or you choose to send out brochures and flyers, you will definitely see a jump in your sales.

Marketing is vitally important to your business, and you will quickly see that sacrificing to free up funds to pay for marketing will gain you a much better cash flow in the future. The marketing process will quickly more than pay for itself.

The more people you can help, the more lasting ripples or waves in the universe you will create. Something I find very interesting about that point in my life is that when I was at my lowest ebb, a particular song was placed in my heart, and the lyrics kept repeating in my mind. In my conversations with God, I was told that one day I’d be singing that song for others, and singing it internationally, but at that time, I was struggling through my own challenges.

In all honesty, I felt like I just wanted to be locked in a cupboard and left alone to sing my song! However, during the time I spent in Hungary, I did sing my song for others many times—up on a stage at a gypsy fair on one occasion—and it was a way of sharing something that had encouraged me with others who also needed encouragement.
